Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone!

2015 was a pretty great year for me on the photography side of things.   I finally got some good Wishes photos that I have hung up at my office and in the house.  I got some good empty park shots at Magic Kingdom, and I got some half-way decent parade shots.  I can’t wait to get back to the parks and do even better in 2016 and take my shot at shooting photos on the Disney Cruise Line in May.

But the photo in this post – of Dumbo spinning around and around at night – pretty much sums up the last few months.   We’ve relaunched the blog, been working on new apps, and planning out 2016.  There’s a lot going on, but it has mostly been all going on behind the scenes so it has felt like we aren’t really getting anywhere.  That is all about to change.  We have a lot of great things in store for 2016.  The new apps are coming – I’m testing out the iOS version right now and should submit it to Apple by 1/4, and there will be an Android app coming probably the following weekend.  We have some great guest blog posts coming up.  We are in the early stages of planning a new eBook and we are probably going to have a couple of mini meet-ups in 2016 (nothing as elaborate as PhotoMagic, more info very soon).

Thank you all for stopping by the blog in 2015, we can’t wait to show you all what we have planned for 2016.  Here’s hoping 2016 turns out to be a keeper for everyone.

I’m going to keep begging for comments in every post to get the community engaged again.  We know there are lots of people reading the blog, so hit the read more and leave a note in the comments.

Also, if you are going to be ordering from Amazon.com anyway, please consider following this link.  It doesn’t cost you anything but we earn a very small commission and it helps support the sit

I'm glad to see the site's back. I've always enjoyed the tutorials, and also really enjoy the podcast. I was bummed to hear the previous content got lost - I really enjoyed the series on shooting dark rides. I hope you all have a great 2016.

Hi Chris! Thanks for writing. I'll make sure Cory and Ryan know you are a fan of Dark Ride photography and make sure a new tutorial is in the queue! Happy New Year

Thanks Keith. I really appreciate y'all sharing your knowledge of the parks, and photography. The articles have helped me move away from Auto mode only to trying different shots and settings. I'm really looking forward to getting back to the parks so I can try some new things.

Headed to Disney World in less than 2 weeks. Stopped by to check a few things out & saw everything is new. Sad that you guys lost stuff, but glad to see the new stuff coming. Hoping to get some pictures of the fireworks in Hollywood Studios this trip! Any advice for shooting this new show?

Hi Angie! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. There are fireworks at Hollywood Studios? lol I've never gotten a chance to shoot fireworks at Hollywood Studios so I'll make sure I alert Cory, Ryan, and Ben to see if they have any tips for shooting there. I would imagine all of the standard fireworks tips from the blog still apply. Find the show on Youtube so you can get a sense of timing. You can also hunt around Instagram, flickr and google for the different locations people have been shooting in.

Thanks Keith! Can't wait to get back to the parks & take some pictures. I have been working very hard since Photo Magic 2013 to improve my photos & I am starting to see a big difference. I have been taking some classes & I meet with a group of photographers regularly. I will check out the You Tube videos for sure for some timing help with the DHS fireworks! Glad to see so much going on with the site again. The photographers here & this site are the two driving forces that have re-ignited my love of photography! Thanks for the hard work it takes to do it all.
